I think an escorted holiday with a tour guide is much safer than an unescorted one. Would there be a big price difference between the escorted and unescorted holiday?

On an unescorted tour you are free to purchase food in a local store and eat in your hotel, see the sites at your leisure, arrange your hotel accommodations, rent a car, etc. Thus there can be a significant savings over a tour guide doing all that for you. BUT if do not want to go through all those arrangements it would be best to go for a tour guide; it could be worth the extra costs.

I think it is worth the extra cost to have a tour guide because you learn so much more from them than you can learn on your own.  Plus it is very nice to have someone make your arrangements for you especailly if you are up in years.
