You might not be able to install ActiveX controls if the system administrator has disabled the ability to install them or if you are using a standard user account. Go to user settings to make yourself an administrator.

In Windows Vista

Click Start

Click Settings

Click Control Panel

Click Internet Options

Click Security Tab

(Internet Zone) - Click Custom Level

Scroll down to Active X controls and Plugins

Enable or mark the prompt buttons

Click OK

In Windows Vista I have had major problems with getting Flash Player to work with Internet Explorer, it used to work fine until new updates from Microsoft were installed and as of today I have yet to find a fix. My solution was to download the free Mozilla Firefox browser in addition to having Internet Explorer and the Flash Player works just fine in Firefox.

"Questions are the creative acts of intelligence."

If you click on the bar, you should be given the option to "download file anyway". You might have to right-click.

The page may re-load, but basically the bar at the top is simply a warning which can be over-ruled.

Hope that helps!

thanks for the reply, it was just resetting my security settings to default, thanks again for taking the time to reply

if you’re using firefox and the solution presented above doesn’t seem to solve your problem then maybe, you’re using YouTube downloader…

here’s my workaround..

- press CTRL+ALT+DEL to launch task manager
- Goto to PROCESS tab then look for SearchSettings.exe from the list
- Right click the application then select ‘Open File Location’
- Go back to the task bar, click on SearchSettings.exe then click on End Process.
- Go back to the Folder where the file SearchSettings.exe was found then delete the file.
