That link keeps sending a reset link to an alternate email account.  I have never had an alternate email account, so how do I bypass that to a different set of options for verifyin my identity.  My account is sending out spam mail and I want to change the password.

Try calling the US support number at +1-877-786-0722 (Mon-Fri 8am-1am EST & Sat 8am-10pm EST) to get assistance with password issues.

I have the same issue and no one at AOL at any phone number is willing to help since it is a "free" email account that they are providing. As of now, I have filed a complaint with the Attorney General's office in our state. Maybe you should do the same.
