Long Ton = 2,240 lbs. 

Gal. Fresh Water = 8.35 lbs

Number of U.S. Gallons in Long Ton = 268.26

Number of U.K. Gallons in Long Ton = 224 

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

I agree with Fruitcake but prefer 8.34 lbs for the U.S. Gal. fresh water. Thus the number of U.S. Gallons of water per Long Ton equals  268.59
