Actually, Nahuatle is a native language that predates Spanish by centuries, and is still spoken in central Mexico. I mean, they weren't mute before the Spaniards invaded. They did talk and have a very advanced civilization and all. I could find no reference to the word for shy. It's possible they don't have one.

If a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, then that makes me a burning truck filled with TNT hurtling through a rocket fuel depot.

I wasn't able to find any information about who said it or what company came out with it. But it appears to be a big money-maker with college students and young people (websites have posters, mugs, t-shirts, hats and other products with this saying for sale online).
