I take it you are referring to Microsoft Outlook email?  If so, then your inbox is stored in a file called "outlook.pst"

This is located in the following location for Windows XP:

C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

For Vista and Windows 7 it will be in the C:\Users folder.

You will need to enable "hidden files and folders" because these are hidden files.  To do this go to "My Computer", click on "Tools", "Folder Options", "View" tab, and then click "show hidden files and folders".
