Do you think Sam Adams should resign as mayor?

Absolutely not.  He's an adult and had sex with an adult.  We really need to loosen up as a nation.  Once you're 18 anyone can have sex with you.  Stop trying to control people, it's only permissible for a man and a woman to have sex on a third date or after because God said so when men invented him and made up a tablet of fake things they wanted him to say so they could control people.  Nothing between consenting adults is anyone else's business.  Live and let live.

Americans need more meaningless fun sex, not less.  All these scandals, use of the word slut to disparage women having more fun than you, gossip, it all discourages us from enjoying life to the fullest and makes people uptight.  We need to go back to the '60s.  If it feels good do it.  If it's fun, enjoy it.  Use protection and birth control, but don't worry about it.  I kept reading the article to see where he went wrong and it turned out he didn't.  People like this, Spitzer, etc., they hurt no one.  Spitzer has so much money he needs sex more than his money, so when you're rich you get to go for what you want, and that woman made so much money she'll be way better off, at least as long as she's not ostracized, anyone would rather make $20,000 for a weekend of sex, which they'll end up having with someone anyways, rather than $10 an hour in some cafe.  Give me a break.  That 80% needs to GET A LIFE!

He had sex with a "legal" adult. We might subjectively think that's too young for him, but the law had determined a guideline and he met that guideline. Also, why is our business anyway?  His entire life is not "legally" our business just because he holds office. We may be more interested in his life because of his job, but he has a right to keep some things private.  Was he under oath when he lied? I don't personally love the idea that the mayor had sex with a young boy and was publicly dishonest, but he's also a citizen who deserves some privacy and isn't breaking any laws. What is this, Nazi Germany? 

What a double standard! If that mayor was a Republican the  media and left wing would have a heyday and than they would call for a lynching. But I guess it's ok when you are a liberal because hey, anything goes when you have no scruples or morals. Let them have sex....anyway they want, with whoever they want, and if its embarrassing, you may lie. This country has gone deviant and has lost it's way.

It really should not be an issue. Any consenting adult should be able to do whatever they agree to do with another consenting adult. Sam Adams was elected to lead the city of Portland by a large majority. The people in Portland still support him, most don't care who sleeps with whom as long as he does a good job. So quit distracting Sam from doing his job!

He is a public official, and accountable to the people that voted him into office. If they want him to resign, then he should resign. If he is lying about this, what else does he lie about.

No.  He will be a wonderful mayor of Portland. He made mistakes; he apologized.  Now we need to move on, and start working on the important issues.

Of course he shouldn't resign. Both adults and what they did is not for us to judge them on. Being a public official doesn't mean you give up having sex then. Thats foolish.
