I agree that PayPal is the way to go.  www.paypal.com  It's free to sign up and to send money, but there are fees associated with receiving payments. Go to the website and take a look at the fee schedule to decide if it would be worth it to you. Aside from that, my choice for the safest way to receive a payment would be to accept a postal money order. Other money orders and even bank cashier's checks are too easy to counterfeit. Most counterfeiters shy away from taking on a Federal agency like the post office. Never give anyone your banking information with the promise that they will direct deposit the money into your account. Another way you might consider to protect yourself is to not release the sold item until whatever form of payment you accept has cleared and you have the money in your possession. I'm afraid it's just a matter of trust for both parties.

Good luck...Janna

Remember...it's your money!

It seems the most secure method of payment would be either cash, paypal or wire transfer.  My bank told me that certified bank cashier's checks can also be fraudulent....

Thanks for your help.

eBay Anything Craigslisters hate eBay. Even those that don't keep their mouths shut. It's part of the craigslist culture (never mind how richly eBay earns it). If you mention in your ad that you have the item on eBay...well...maybe just delete the ad yourself to keep it from suffering. If you talk about how your price compares to eBay prices you are asking for problems. eBay is a bigger market with more competition driving up prices. eBay sellers have to covered eBay fees, PayPal fees, shipping, inflated "handling" charges and all the rest. If people wanted to pay eBay prices, play the eBay game and get screwed the eBay way, they'd go to eBay. 'round craigslist there aren't ratings, there are flags.

If I have geift certificatfrom Maas Brothers will Macy accept them?

Maas Brothers gift certificates would have to be more than 20 years old, and Federated Department Stores already went through chapter 11 bankruptcy in 1990. Maas Brothers became Burdine's in 1991, and Burdine's became Macy's stores in 2005, so you do have a possible claim on Macy's, if the gift ...
