I'm not sure I completely understand your question. But let me try to answer what I think you are trying to ask. Basically, in simple terms, a router is a device that sends, and/or directs, data from one device to another. There are several manufactures with many different features, from basic router/switch, to very complex, multi function, devices. The prices grow exponentially with each function. A storage device is, in basic terms, an area where data can be left on a permanent basis, such as, but not limited to, the hard disk drive on your computer, a floppy disk, a CD, a DVD, a flash drive or an external hard drive to name some. I do not know where you are from or what you are looking for but you can look here, http://www.newegg.com/, and/or here, http://www.ecost.com/ to start your search for what you may need. I hope this helps and good luck.

Routers are devices that forward data to their appropriate destinations. The routers decide the best possible route that a packet needs to take to reach its destination . The  routers  maintain a routing table to decide the route for the  data .A router is  capable of joining multiple networks  using different protocols. Routers operate at the network layer of the  OSI model. The router is the only device in the network that sees all the passing through the network. When a data packet  needs to be transmitted, the router verifies the address of the destination computer and  pick the optimal route for transmission. Cisco recommends the latest cisco 2800 series Integrated Services Routers and the Cisco 3800 Series Integrated Services Routers for  small and large business entrepreneurs

There are two types of routers which are, wired and wireless. A wired route will be connected through a modem to the internet.

The local area computers are connected using Ethernet cables to the router. If a single computer is to be connected to the internet, then the cable modem can be considered to be a router also. The router allows multiple computers to communicate with each other, and to communicate to the internet, sharing a single internet connection.

Broadband means either having a cable modem or a DSL connection. As, these are high-speed connections that connect your computer or computers to the internet, they are referred to as broadband. There are two types of broadband routers that are used in a network.

One is the wired router that has been described. The other type of broadband router is the wireless router. This router looks like the wired router the only difference is that in size it may be smaller than a wired router, and will have one or two antennas on it. A wireless broadband router can also be a mixed router and may have some Ethernet cable ports on it.

This router allows computers to be connected by Ethernet cables and wireless computers can connect via the router to the internet and to other computers on the network too. Wireless routers use an encryption to disallow eavesdroppers from accessing the network too. Other than routing data packets on the network, and between networks, there are broadband routers that can be setup as firewalls and DHCP servers.

what are the types of routers and what are there?

There are basically 2 types of routers.
1. Static router: In this type the system administrator is defining the shortest path in the network.
In static routers, system administrator is giving the shortest path by giving some commands.
Static router is not so efficient than dynamic routing. static routing have some limitations and used in the relatively
Smaller range of the network.
2. Dynamic router: In the dynamic routing the router can define the shortest path by itself between the nodes.
Dynamic routing is the clever type of routing and normally used in lot of places in the world while routing. In this type the router is programmed in such a way that router itself is taking the shortest path and system administrator does not have to do any thing. It saves time and cost.

two types

1>modular

2>fixed / nonmodular

In modular router the interfaces are not fixed so that we are be able to installed cards latter on this router. But in case of non modular router the interfaces r fixed, we cannot able to add ports/interfaces latter on. Thats all
