Wireless networking can seem daunting if you are not used to it. Lets break it down into simple pieces then look at this.

  • What operating system are you using? Windows, OSX, Linux. eg Win Vista
  • What kind of router are you using? Linksys, D-link, Ubiquiti. eg Linksys WR54G
  • What is the model of laptop or netbook? i.e. Fujitsu Lifebook P7230. Knowing these things will greatly speed up getting help.

I would first check for obvious stuff, like switches are on, lights are blinking etc. =]. Then I would start searching Google with the above information in mind. For instance <operating system + router type >.

  • your manufacturer will have forums which specialize in answering specific problems. The more research you do the easier you will find people that are willing to help.
  • There are numerous resources on the web, as this is a common problem. I live in the Seattle area, and I know the people at Seattle Wireless to be great people with a huge depository of wireless knowledge.

Linksys support site . or forums linke this . Google is your friend =] hope I could help. Good luck.
