Robin-like bird with long, black beak.

It is February 8, 2009 in Maine and I saw a bird that greatly resembled a robin but it was very dark,almost black on his back and had a long, black beak.

You probably saw an Eastern Towhee or a Rufous-Sided Towhee, both pictured below. Top photo - Rufous Sided, Bottom photo - Eastern.
