How to get rid of Sand Flea Bites

Both of my daughters went swimming this weekend at a campground that we have been attending every summer for over 6 years...they both have what appears to be sand flea bites. How do you get rid of these. One of my daughters looks like she has about 200 or more on her scalp.

I am sorry you did not look carefully enough. You should look for the link that explains that sand flea bites are treated as mosquito bites. I add the specific quote below:

Treatment procedures and prevention steps for a sand flea bite are similar to those of mosquitoes. If more severe reactions are encountered or if there are signs of Leishmaniasis, then the sand flea bite requires professional medical treatment. As of 2006, there is no vaccine to combat Leishmaniasis caused by a sand flea bite.

In 2007 I got sand flea bites in Belize. They got worse after I got back to the U.S. I still had them 3, 6, and 9 months later. My doctor had no advice. Finally I returned to Belize (Caye Caulker) and went to the Cuban doctor in the Med Clinic. He took one look and said my initial problem was the bites, but now it was just dermatitis. He perscribed an ointment with a steriod, an antibiotic, and an anti fungal agent. The sores began healing within 24 hours! Now I make my own ointment (just got back from another visit with bites again. I combine hydrocortizone, a triple antibiotic ointment (both by Equaline) and the antifungal I use to prevent toenail fungus (chlortrimazole). It's a week since I've been back to the US. The sores are almost gone. Bless that Cuban doctor!
