Chasuable- What's it's history- when did it become associated with christ/ the Church?

According to the Catholic Dictionary it was a garment commonly worn by the men in the Roman Empire. Gradually it became a liturgical vestment. The style has changed over the centuries.

I tried a Google search to no avail. Maybe someone else can give you more information.
