Which religion should I convert to?
Yechiel/faith I don't believe much of what faith is trying to convey. I think it has more holes in it than a screen door. It blocks out much of the light but the wind goes right threw it. This idea of subjective vs. dualistic thinking to me is a far fetched theory that never got off the ground let alone to be considered valid. This idea doesn’t last because it simply does not hold water. To change or infer that the name God or Christ should be undermined by a made up name of "grace bestower" is insulting to say the least. This term "grace bestower" is simply a ploy to undermined the importance of the God of Abraham. The one true God/Christ !
Dear Mike;
Grace bestower for me is a name for what G-d does, for those of us who behave in a decent way; however you may describe this.
G-d gives what He has because He is G-d; we accept or have not received what He gives based on our Free Will.
Once we get past the language, and concentrate on the concepts, the "Screen Door" does not look so bad. So she has a different way to see what He does; at least she is looking.
We each are standing on a platform, looking inward. The object we are looking looks pretty much the same all around, with slight variations. From where you are standing, you have one way of describing the object. From where I stand, another way, Faith, yet, still another.
Kind of like the blind men and the elephant.
This is on a physical object.
Now, transcribe this to the Spiritual.
Now, the Infinite. G-d.
See my point?
Shalom;
Yechiel
When you have thought about the above post for a while, ask yourself this question;
Am I standing where I was ten years ago?

Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, ‘Has God indeed said, “You shall not eat of every tree of the garden”?’ And the woman said to the serpent, ‘We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, “You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.”’ Then the serpent said to the woman, ‘You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.’ So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.”
As a whole when it comes to my faith, I would have to say Yes ! GBY MikeC
Yechiel, you are making some very good points here. Points that I heartily agree with.
"Once we get past the language, and concentrate on the concepts, the "Screen Door" does not look so bad. So she has a different way to see what He does; at least she is looking.
See my point?"
I John 4: 12-13
No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
Njoy The following quote from Jameslee regarding what FaithR has been sharing is the truth and I agree with his statement wholeheartedly. We have a wide range of religious thought being posted here and to scold people with snide remarks such as MikeC's "screen door" reference does absolutely nothing to promote open and intelligent discussion. *************************************** What Faith was sharing is of a higher understanding then most on this blog are ready to realize. Most are still caught up in their literal way of thinking and even with that do not understand scripture with anything other then ego
Once we get past the language,
"Then the serpent said to the woman, ‘You will not surely die.
and concentrate on the concepts
The serpent said to the woman,"For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God"
the "Screen Door" does not look so bad.
"So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.”
So she has a different way to see what He does;.
"you will be like God"

1 John 4 12-13 1Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
2Hereby know you the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
3And every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof you have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
4You are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
5They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world hears them.
6We are of God: he that knows God hears us; he that is not of God hears not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
7Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loves is born of God, and knows God. 8He that loves not knows not God; for God is love.
9In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 10Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. 12No man has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwells in us, and his love is perfected in us. 13Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. 14And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.
Some people on this blog thinks that faith has a higher understanding. I don't. I think it is a weak argument and there is nothing higher about it. I know exactly what she is saying, and she is simply wrong in my view.
