It is unfortunate that Man can misinterpret what God teaches so badly that they engage in horrible deeds.  However, it's important that we all remember this is MAN'S flaw, not God's.  Now, I cannot speak for non-Christian religions, for I do not know what they teach.  However, I can speak to you from a Christian perspective.

Following Jesus Christ's teachings properly will lead any man/woman/child along the right path.  A path of compassion, love, honor, truth, forgiveness, patience, charitable behavior and the ability to stay strong under the most aggressive pressures of the world.  The problem we have is that some fall victim to temptation and skew God's message.  Those people mislead others and then, even more people begin to misinterpret their actions as the actions of God.  The two are not even on the same playing field, however.

My father is an atheist and therefore, I see first-hand the frustrations, misconceptions and distrust he experiences.  He relies upon himself only and thinks faith is God is absurd.  Regardless, I love him and pray for his conversion continually.  I want him to know peace, safety and compassion.  I want him to know that being "of God" means good things, not bad.  I wish the very same for you and all those who have been misled.

Peace be with you and I hope that perhaps this has given you another insight.

Chris

Tippy and Woodman,

Have you ever run into someone that believes that Revelation has already happened in Deciple John's time?  I asked a question,  Does anyone see the prophecy that Jesus gave us in his prayer.  RRS replied to it, and stated that it is of the past, which, of course, it is not.  Please check it out for me.  He is hard to understand and I need your input.  Thanks Brother and Sister..........Di

It’s a debate I spend little time on.

If you believe that John wrote Revelation about 60 AD (before the temple was destroyed) you can argue the events have already happened within the Roman Empire. If you believe John wrote it about 90 AD (after the temple was destroyed) then the scriptures must be referring to different ages of the church through the future to our present time. Both camps have good points. Either way, John was blessed with an extrotionate gift of prophecy.

When reading Revelations it’s clear that John thought it was all coming real soon. But folks have been declaring the 2nd coming/end of time is soon ever since the day Jesus arose. One thing is sure. It’s closer now than then.

I spend little time on the subject because I don’t think Christians were commanded to go out and preach the end of time.  People kept asking Jesus when and he kept avoiding the question. It’s not important. What is; is spreading the gospel of salvation.

Although I must admit, John did promise a special blessing to those who read and hear the prophecy. Rev.1:3.

May you have a long trail with a light load.

True and thanks Woodman,

Have you ever thought about the fact that the deciples flesh only died and that they were taken straight to heaven?  So they will see all of this coming about.  I give thanks to all who died for our Father and Lord Jesus, but only their flesh passed away for they were Jesus's deciples and now have immortal bodies.

Interesting?  Why would he tell them that he would go and prepare a place for them.  These are his chosen ones to spread his word.  They live today as they did yesterday, but in heaven with the Lord.

Hi Diana,

The book of Revelation is broken into three parts; past, present, and future. In chapter 1, John describes what had already happened. Christ had come and gave himself as a sacrifice for the lost. Chapters 2 and 3 are the present. When the book was written, all seven churches were literal and in existence. More importantly, they are representative of all churches.

Revelation means to uncover or unveil something that is hiding. The purpose of Revelation is to show Gods servants the events which must shortly come to pass. The time is at hand. God is telling us to have an attitude of expectancy.

The Christians in Johns day thought these things would happen in their day. But the events in Revelation are yet to happen in the end times. The early believers were doing just what Christ had told them to do, to look and watch for his return. Read Mark 13:32, Matthew 24:42 & 44.

God measures time differently than we do. It has been over 2,000 years since this revelation was given to John and Jesus still has not returned to earth and the end of the world has not happened.... YET One day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 2 Peter 3:8

Our attitude should be this: We must be expecting Christ to return today, but we must plan as though He will not come for a hundred years.

The book of Revelation is not for those who profess Christ but fail to serve Him. It is written only for genuine believers. If one studies prophecy at all, you will find that the prophecies of Revelation are finally coming to pass in our day.

An angel, a messenger, was sent to John to give him the message of Revelation. Why was John Chosen? Because he was available. Christ always chooses a person to carry the messages of God to men. But before he chooses a man that man has to be available. John says he bore witness to what he saw. What did he see? He saw the Word of God. The things of Revelation are the Word of God. John saw all the things that are reported in this Revelation.

I believe we are now living John's Revelation. Jesus is soon to return.

Be Blessed

Be Blessed. Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity (Love), I am become as a sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vauneth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seekth not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is (Love) charity.

Yes, I agree with you on all of that Tippy.  Sniff........but see I want to save all the people from those final days of tribulation.  I just wish people would repent, turn to him and he would save our people..........Thanks, sister in Christ for your wise words

Diana,

My hearts desire is that all men will be saved, but we know that there will be those that will end up lost because of their unbelief. All we can do is pray and ask God to turn the hearts of his people towards him. The book has already been written and the chapters have been closed. The word of God is true and not one jot or tittle will pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Be Blessed and continue to pray

I do Tippy pray for the world every day to find their way to him.  Wow cannot imagine not having him or Father(I call him Poppa).  Would not want to exist without them.

Now that Mknight has been removed from Yedda, perhaps we can get on with the discussion in more sensible terms.

History has written not one good word about atheism: it is bloodshed in the making and a fanatacism that rational persons seldom tolerate.  Yet atheism persists as a fundamental religious order, that is much more secretive than it ever needed to be.

Let us ponder the contrary cases:

1.  How has Christian Faith brought you new charity -- not just organized giving to people in need, introducing the econoimics of scale and persistence -- but also the sense that you have helped others whose need was greater than your own?

2.  How has your stable marriage helped others, who have seen your happy family from afar, and found the wisdom to quietly follow your example without ever telling you about it?

3.  How has your quiet self-acceptance of the inner person God is making of you, made you happier -- even in times of turmoil?

4.  How has your quiet acceptance of your destiny made you a stronger person and a more vibrant entity?

5.  How has your call to sharing -- more of your ideas than your money -- helped others?  They may never tell you, but you showed the way regardless.

6.  How has your example of forgiveness shown others how to forgive?  Note also that you may never have seen it, but others have -- and they acted on it.

7.  How has your Christian motivation caused another person to cease being a meaningless drifter, and caused him to roll up his sleeves to support his family, which he has never done before?

You must look to others for the signs of your example of faith bringing them up.  These signs are not always obvious, but you will feel the improvement in the happier persons, and see smiles where before you saw frowns.

This is the most passive form of leadership -- setting the example.  There are other, more active forms of Christian leadership, but the passive form of leadership is where the others originate.

The most important is, "Do you provide that safe haven for others to voice their anguish, and never judge the person?"

Thatis how the Lord works miracles, in re-shaping the lives of people a step at a time.

In Jesus Name, I bid you peace.

If God does not believe in atheists, then do atheists not exist?
