The best way I know is to get a new mattress.  Keep your place very clean and never let laundry pile up.  Bedbugs don't just get into your bed and blankets.  They get into everything that you have worn.  Bedbugs can survive cold water wash but hot water with bleach will kill them.

Call an exterminator or try vacuuming them up until they are gone.  They multiply  very quickly and you'll not get rid of them until you start doing something. Here's a plsce you can read about what to do.
