Do you prefer CDs or LPs, and why?

Compact Discs are nice because they are compact.  The sound is usually sharper, which can be good or bad, depending on the type of recording you're listening to.

Since I listen to vintage music, which was recorded analog, the digital versions often sound harsh and flawed, so I prefer the forgiving warmth of LPs.

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

CD's because they are smaller.and sound better.

I'm a dinosaur I suppose. I prefer LPs, when recorded well and played on high end stereo systems. Why? Because of the compression algorithms used to make CDs. You lost quite a bit of the full sonic range. Most people don't notice this, and I have my share of CDs, but if you're an audiophile, they're just not as present as LPs.

If a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, then that makes me a burning truck filled with TNT hurtling through a rocket fuel depot.
