there are many different types of biking events and each of these events has championships of its own... for example, there is the single speed world championship which took place in 1999 for the first time or the Ford Ironman world championship so its really difficult. But according to popular opinion the first race ever held was in Paris in 1868 and was won by a Dr. James Moore.
