Is any question on Yedda acceptable / legitimate ? Someone asked how to make his wife a whore ? Unbelievable !.
I certainly believe that there are some questions that are not only in poor taste, but are unacceptable. I missed the one that you referenced, but that truly qualifies. I think that the issue of legitimacy is more difficult to pass judgment on. Personally, I do not feel that this is a forum for trading information about illicit and/or illegal drug use.
Whoever said that there are no dumb questions has probably never been exposed to Yedda. And some posts simply do not ask any question.
I hope you are well.
Oron... you do know that you can report inappropriate questions or answers to Yedda and it will most likely be deleted. People are not free to type anything they want, and for it to stay on Yedda. I reported a question once about how Israel has no right to exist, and I got it deleted.
OronD, my friend, I think you are tired and over-worked. When was the last time you had a vacation?
You have more experience with Yedda than any of us and you know that idiots can type (well, sort of). You also know that when you sound the clarion call for the ignorant of the world to gain knowledge, the ignorant will show up. The knowledge they seek will be the knowledge desired by the ignorant, not the learned.
When you are confronted with an ignorant question, you have many options; laugh, cry, answer, ignore, mock, enlighten, scold, complain, love, hate, pity, empathize, and probably a lot more than I have listed.
The question you referred to came from AOL, like most of the crap that I see in the question list. If I could screen out all the AOL questions and just see the Yedda community's questions, I know it would make me a lot happier. AOL (America OnLine) is the worst ISP in existence, as near I can tell, and usually only the most computer illiterate people will sign up with their very intrusive, extremely slow service. Sorry, DB Lady, I know you use AOL mail (and maybe their ISP service).
OronD, you need a break to regain your normal humor. You should be enjoying your life instead of wasting time on the self-condemned hopelessly ignorant. Take a bottle of wine and go for a long walk away from your computer and any undue sense of responsibility for mankind's ills.

Yes, there are so many crazy questions, sometimes it's good to just give a crazy answer.
With regards to AOL, yes I use it stll. I don't know, once I get used to something, it's difficult to change. It must be my old age creeping up on me.
Yes, there are some questions that are not really appropriate for the younger Yedda members, sometimes some blatant sex terms. I just posted something in response to Ruthy and she did not like my response. Oh well, we can't please everybody.
OronD, I came back to this question because I am beginning to think that the quality of questions, and the legitimacy of them has gone way down. The animosity has increased among the posters, along with blatant nationalism and warmongering. This is just subjective, of course, but in the last four months since you posted this question Yedda seems to have gotten very coarse/cheap/shoddy/vulgar. Questions are being drawn in from really annoying sites like walletpop and AOL Mail that drop all their company communications into the mix, instead of answering it themselves like their posters are expecting. And then there are the political nuts. I would have thought Americans would have gotten quieter after the election, but now they are getting crazy and threatening (not to mention posting hundreds of duplicate posts all over the place). And where did all the jerks come from that just post rude or dangerous answers?
And what happened to the staff of Yedda? They haven't replied to any of my posts to them in a long time (including a couple of personal direct messages). Have they farmed out oversight/moderation of the blogs to AOL or something?
Just random thoughts.
