Puppy Adoption Help?

I'm considering adopting a Miniature Schnauzer puppy and I'm not sure what to look for. What do I need to look for to make sure that it is purebred and not any sort of mix? As well as what should I check to make sure that the dog is in good health?

That depends on the age of the puppy, and what it might be a mix of. A Schnauzer's coat hair is banded gray and white, The leg hair is white, but does not really show until pups are a little past 8 weeks. I have had some that had gray feet well into the 3 or 4 month, Puppies are born neally black. The only way you could tell for sure is to take a Schnauzer breeder with you. Health wise is a vet check. I don't think there are to many schnauzer puppies up for adoption that are pure bred. Than too the ones that are, are not groomed well enough to even make them look like Schnauzers.  Mill, Mini Schnauzer breeder for 0ver 40 years.

quip yourself first with lots of information about the breed. Then find a truly reputable breeder, and they are little pricey but that's the way it is. Look for all necessary papers and the updated list of shots. This is the best thing to do and beware of cheaper yet lesser proof of being reputable breeder that there are possibilities soon of health issues which is far more expensive.

Check shelters first. Like Petfinder.com. You can just as easily find a perfect dog from a shelter and they SO NEED a home.
