I am a uni student and I started getting to know ...

I am a uni student and I started getting to know this guy that i like very much and the feeling was mutual only he is a bit shy.He has been very patient with me and I have no idea how to deal with my fear of being with him.This would have been my first serious relationship,I have stood him up 4 times because i fear the thought of actually dating him and being intimate even though i care about him a lot.We stopped talking as I went home for the summer holidays but started again not so long ago and he mentioned how upset he was that he never spent time with me.I apologised but i didn't know what else to say to him even though my heart was telling me to give it a go.I am now constantly thinking about him but I am avoiding being in a situation where I have to talk to him because the notion of being in a relationship or loving someone and letting them in my space scares me a lot.I really need advice on this and i don't know what to do or say...

What the hey, go for it. Just let him know up front your feelings and insecurities.

If you like him and he likes you, why not. Just because you are dating him doesn't mean you will be with him 24/7.

My wife and I have been married for 35 years and we still have our private space where no one can enter. Good luck.

You are at an age now where you need to give a relationship a try. Even if it doesn't work out you will learn alot. I understand your fears but being rejected or jilted will not kill you and may make you stronger. Anyway you need to find out what you want in a man or relationship and this will only be possible with some experience. Good luck.
