What you are experiencing is the PS3 equivalent of the Xbox 360 Red Ring of Death. All PS3 models will eventually start to have problems with the BluRay Laser assembly, and are starting to be unable to read discs anymore. They start a game fine, and then suddenly are unable to read further game data and lock up. The only resolution to this is to contact Sony Support and hope they repair your console.

I am having the same problem. The playstation stays on the menu screen and will not read any game, DVD, or Blue Ray. A few times it looked like a DVD was going to start but then the screen goes black. Is this the same problem that you are having? Most forums that I have checked out show that the only way to get it resolved is to send it back to Sony to get fixed or replaced. This can be done if you have the receipt or if it is still under warranty which is neither for me. Have you found any solutions? Please let me know.

I had the sama problem,then I contact  the  store, this can be done if you have the receipt or if it is still under warranty which is neither for me.

I have the sam problem and do not know what to do one minute i was playing Cod4 online my bro turned it off and now it does not read the games blu ray and dvd works still but the games dont help me please

This is not possible. If a movie is "zoomed in" when you open it on your Playstation 3, that means that is the way it was rendered. If there was a way you could "zoom out" of an already "zoomed in" movie, it would be extremely pixelated.

If your system has 4 USB ports in front of it, it should play most ps2 games. When using a ps3 to play ps2 games you have to have the controller(s) you are using plugged in
