I turned the central air unit on for the first time this year. After a few hours, I noticed the house wasn't getting any cooler and checked for air coming out of the vents. There wasn't anything coming out. I pulled the air filter and noticed the inside grill and coils were nearly covered with a sheet of ice in an 80 degree house. What would be the leading cause of this? I use high-end filters and they're changed every 3-6 months.

You probably have a small leak and most of the freon has leaked out. You need to have someone find the leak and recharge the system.
