Nobama,

Do you have any documented proof? They celebrated Christmas just like any other family, and the last I heard the girls were able to watch TV, but not all day, which is smart parenting.

Do you have any proof that says otherwise?

Be Blessed

Be Blessed. Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity (Love), I am become as a sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vauneth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seekth not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is (Love) charity.

In a magazine interview Obama and his wife Michelle revealed that one of their steadfast house rules is not giving Christmas or birthday presents to Malia, 10, and Sasha, seven.
The couple explained that they spend "hundreds" on birthday slumber parties and want to "teach some limits". Santa Claus is still permitted to deliver seasonal gifts however.
The girls are also given an allowance of just $1 (50p) a week for performing household chores, according to People magazine. Those chores include making their own bed, setting and clearing the dinner table and putting themselves to bed by 8.30pm.
On the campaign trail, Mr Obama has often spoken of the need for Americans to be "better parents" who aren't afraid to "turn off the TV".
He has also exhorted black males to be more responsible fathers.
Though he has been away "98 per cent of the time", Mr Obama told People that before the campaign he did "the house and car repairs, the grocery shopping" and "sometimes the laundry".
His two daughters keep up the sort of busy schedule that any over-reaching parent would recognize: football, dance and drama for the eldest and gymnastics and tap dancing for the youngest, with daily piano practice for both.
If Mr Obama issues clear rules at home, his speech in Berlin on Thursday before 200,000 adoring Germans has come in for criticism for its vagueness. The website of the National Review magazine ran a quiz asking readers to compare sentences from the candidate's address on global unity to the lyrics of We Are The World, the 1985 song that raised money for the Ethiopian famine.
Two examples were: "The world will watch and remember what we do" and, "But if you just believe there's no way we can fall." The first is from Obama, the second from the song, written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie.

Barack Obama: Pretense galore (No birthday or Christmas gifts for their children.)

Filed in Opinion on Aug.05, 2008

I know some people who don’t give Christmas presents to their children and don’t celebrate Christmas because they think the traditions of Christmas are actually steeped in paganism. But never have I heard of parents who don’t give birthday gifts to their children when they can afford them. What’s up with that? Yeah, I think it’s weird. It’s not criminal but it’s weird.

Barack Obama: Pretense galore
By Michael Graham

Is Sen. Barack Obama just too weird to be elected president?

Since the day Obama claimed the Democratic nomination, pundits and political pros have been waiting for him to take a significant lead in the polls. Here we are in August, and not only has Obama failed to get the Democrat’s traditional summertime bump, he’s tied with John McCain in the latest Gallup and Rasmussen polls.

[snip]

We were looking for the perfect gift for “The man who is everything” and I was suggesting the traditional items for someone of Obama’s stature - gold, frankincense and myrrh. I was taken aback by the number of listeners who said the Democratic standard-bearer should get nothing because of a People magazine article about the Obama family’s policy of not giving Christmas or birthday presents to their own two daughters.

[snip]

Then there was that speech in Berlin that was supposed to give Obama a big bounce. But his numbers went down instead.

Did Obama give a bad speech? No. But there was something just plain weird about watching a guy who wanted votes from Americans rallying 200,000 Germans in Berlin. It’s not wrong. It’s not unpatriotic. But no other presidential candidate in history has ever done anything like it. REST OF ARTICLE

This is just being a good parent and a good husband. Maybe if a lot of parents would take this advice, the kids would not be fighting them and cursing them out. Maybe, just maybe, a lot of our kids would not be on drugs, in jail or dead. This is old fashioned parenting, when kids were kids, respected their parents and grew up to know the value of adulthood and responsibility.

  • The couple explained that they spend "hundreds" on birthday slumber parties and want to "teach some limits". Santa Claus is still permitted to deliver seasonal gifts however. (Nothing wrong with setting limits)

  •  The girls are also given an allowance of just $1 (50p) a week for performing household chores, according to People magazine. (Teaches responsibility)

  • Those chores include making their own bed, setting and clearing the dinner table and putting themselves to bed by 8.30pm. (Teaches self discipline)

  • often spoken of the need for Americans to be "better parents" who aren't afraid to "turn off the TV". (More books less TV, nothing wrong with that)

  • His two daughters keep up the sort of busy schedule that any over-reaching parent would recognize: (They understand the value of a good education and culture) football, dance and drama for the eldest and gymnastics and tap dancing for the youngest, with daily piano practice for both.

  •  He has also exhorted black males to be more responsible fathers. (They need to take care of their families, less welfare and single parent homes.)

  •  Mr Obama told People that before the campaign he did "the house and car repairs, the grocery shopping" and "sometimes the laundry". ( I wish my husband would take a few lessons from the President).

1 Trillion dollars

1 dollars bills    1.1 million tons

                       22 billion pounds

100 dollar bills  11 thousands tons

                      2.2 million pounds

If you stacked a trillion $1 bills (US) on top of each other, you'd form a stack that reached a quarter of the way to the moon --the stack would be nearly 70,000 miles high or three times  around the equator

 A dollar bill's dimensions are about 2.6" x 6.1" x .0043"

$253 million to cover a one-mile by one-mile square.

So $1 trillion in one-dollar bills would cover an area of about 3,857 square miles

$1trillion in one-dollar bills (if packed perfectly) would fill a volume of about            40 million cubic feet

Minneapolis sports stadium Metrodome Interior volume is 60 million cubic feet

will fill the Metrodome 2/3 full

Yes Mrs Obama has always cooked for her family but now that she's in the White House she won't be cooking for (hopefully) 8 years. The White House has a large number of Chefs with a fully staffed Kitchen open 24 hours per day. There is plenty for the kids to do in the White House, there is a built-in pool, bowling alley, theater and they have the run of the family quarters. They will be attending school and will have friends over for slumber parties or any other kind get togethers so that they can interact with their friends. Michelle has told the staff that the girls are to clean their own rooms including making their beds just as they've done in the past.

Barack loves her shrimp linquine
