Using a child sized table also separates the child from the rest of the family? How can one take the benefits of a child table without isolating the child?

I always had a child sized table for my children in their play area. It was for coloring, playdough, tea parties, etc. I sat in the little chairs with them and played right alongside. Mealtimes were always at the adult table.
