Hi,
In 2 main ways:
1.  Much more roads, highways, parking areas (to
     cope with the demand)
2.  Pollusion of gasses (Resulting from burning the 
     petrol) causing many side effects: Dirt, smog,
     greenhouse effect, effect on health, acud rains,
     etc.

1 major reason, the air that comes out by our cars is not healthy and it combine to the air which also cause of Green house effect.
