The government could tax the wealthy 100% (it was 90% during WWII) and it wouldn't make a dent in the national debt. The point of America is liberty and freedom. People come here for the opportunities that they CAN"T get in their own countries.

To make a statement that $100,000 should be the limit of what an individual can make is the epitome of class envy. Obviously this person has never spent their sweat and tears building a business. They have never been in a position of authority where the success or failure of the company rests on their back. To be a highly paid CEO is not job security. Are some of the salaries outrageous, YES, but that is up to the stock holders and board of directors of that company!!! If this is what they want to pay this person than so be it. It doesn't mean a hill of beans to me. If I am fortunate enough to raise to that level do I want some dweeb limiting my potential income? NO!

Some of the wealthier people I have known in my life are self-made without a college education and some who were high school drop-outs but they made the commitment to hard work and became successful. If you don't have that dream or commitment than be satisfied with your lot in life but don't deny others from being successful. That is the American Dream.

Limiting that dream is Socialistic and Communistic and you need to reconsider where you want to live. Europe is full of these idiots, they still have class hierachy there and how's that working out for them? Every Communist country has fallen or is in a state of disarray, so that didn't work out so well, did it? China is becoming a world power by grasping capitalism, communism didn't work!

If you are content to work for someone else than you MUST put up with what that company wants from you, if not, go into business for yourself lets see how long you will last there. Entrepreneurs are a brave lot, they are willing to risk all; security, time, sometimes their health to make their business successful. Are you up for that? Why should their incomes be limited? Do you know that 65% of all jobs are created by small business!!! The rest is government and big business. Government employs more people than big business!!! Who pays their salaries? US! That's who!!!!!!!!

You can survive in this economy by getting rid of business stifling taxes and rules that prevent entrepreneurs from building their business and putting people to work! Taxes are derived from employed individuals. The more people that are working the more income the government makes and the more they can squander it on special interest crap!!!!

Our national debt is 14+ trillion dollars that's over $135,000 per person as our share. So if your making only $100,000 a year, how long is that going to take you to pay that debt? You still have to pay for food, a mortgage, utilities, car insurance, car payment, gas, etc. from that $100,000. What's left? Do you live in California? $100,000 doesn't go very far there. Do you live in New York City? That will buy you a cold water one bedroom walk-up!!!!

I am sorry Pooch that you don't see the opportunities available to you in this great country but want to deny others of that opportunity. That is sad and makes me feel like you have missed the point of what makes America great. Is it easy, NO, if it was, everybody would be doing it. But don't you dare try to stop others from reaching for that dream.

If people fear the goverment, that's tyranny; if the government fears the people, that's liberty...Thomas Jefferson

Did I state what "class" I fall into?  I said that no one needs to make TOO much money.  And, I could never "envy" greedy, "low class", unethical, money grubbing people that are never satisfied no matter how much money they have.  "Class" has nothing to do with how much money someone has.  FYI:  The American Dream is not about how much money one can accumulate before they die.

FYI, the American dream isn't about living off the government teat either! The American dream is to be whatever you want. If you want to be a drone in another person's dream, then God bless you, if you want to start your own business and become successful than God bless you. If you want to contemplate your navel all day then have at it. But to ENVY those who have is silly and plebeian.

What is TOO much to you? Why are you the judge? If your idea of the American dream is to have a 3-2 with a two car garage and a loving family then good for you. But why deny another from financial success? They will find out soon enough that money isn't everything but in the mean time they are putting people to work so they can afford that 3-2 with a two car garage and taxes to pay for special interest group programs! As one man said, "I never got a job from a poor man".

How do you know what "class" (all) rich folks are in? Do you know that most "rich" stay under the radar and give to charities and build hospital wings for poor children and the less fortunate, etc. You class envy has been molded by the media, not reality.

As Rhett Butler said in "Gone With the Wind", "Frankly, I don't give a damn". I want the opportunity to be what I like not conform to your narrow idea of America. What someone else makes has nothing to do with me (or you, my friend).

Why are people clamoring to come to this country? The opportunity, my friend, the opportunity! They don't have that from where they came from. Money doesn't buy happiness but it makes unhappiness more tolerable.

If you have no ability to improve your lot in life, what's the point? If you want to live in the woods with the teddy bears than you have that ability here in the US. If you want to rise to the chairman of the board, you have that opportunity here in the US. If you don't like this then I pity you. You are living in the wrong country.

I hate to see unscrupulous people as well as you do but life is about taking the good with the bad. I'm afraid you are advocating Communism, and that "ain't" good. There are bad poor, middle class, upper middle class, rich and wealthy people. That's the nature of man, unfortunately (not exclusive to the rich).

Some do good with a little and some do good with a lot. Some are bad poor people and some are bad rich people. That's the human condition. If a person doesn't know when they have enough then as the Bible says, "it is easier for a camel to pass through the head of a needle, than a rich man to get to heaven". Money and wealth is a burden that many do not bare well.

"Why are people clamoring to come to this country? The opportunity, my friend, the opportunity! They don't have that from where they came from.".....   Because it is well known that the the American gov't caters to the foreigners and screws the American people.  That is why unemployment is so high in the U.S.  That is why the "American Dream" (for Americans!) is now not possible.  You "my friend", do not sound like you were "made in America".  Heed your bible quote.

The American dream is still viable. I feel sorry for you and your obviously pitiful life of class resentment. We need to get government off our back and return to the the Judeo-Christian principles that we were founded on; freedom, liberty and progress. I love this Country and fought for it and have been decorated for my service. I live with my memories everyday. I fought for your freedom to make ridiculous statements. You have no clue to my life but want to do the typical Liberal tool of impuning me. Sad, my friend, sad.

The people that are "screwing" you are probably the people that you voted for!!! Why do Blacks still back the Democratic Party when it is well known that the Dems, despise and use them!? Why do people think that the Repubs. are the party of the wealthy, when the Dems raised more money from Corporations in the last election then the Repubs.?

You are playing right into their hands, my friend, and THAT is the problem with this Country! I am neither a Repub. or Dem. I think they both stink! I have made a lot of money in this Country and am poor now but I still don't give up on it. We are the boss and it's up to us to change it.

I DO heed my Bible quote. I give, even though, I don't have. I'm not looking for a pat on the back but I'll be damned to have you judge me based on your narrow view of life. I dared to be great, did you?

A person's "greatness" is not defined by how much money they.  Nor, their "class".   "Judeo-Christian"....dead give away.  There is no "reason" in any of your aka posts.  Definitely no class.
