According to information I found on the Internet, Wisconsin was the first state to set a minimum age to purchase wine and liquor in 1839.  They set 18 as the minimum age, but their was no minimum age to purchase beer.  No other state set minimum ages to purchase alcoholic beverages until the repeal of Prohibition.  This concerns the minimum age to purchase alcoholic beverages.  The minimum age to consume alcoholic beverages is a different matter.  Some states do not have a minimum age to consume.  Apparently, no state regulated the minimum age to consume alcoholic beverages until after Prohibition.  If I am in error on this, I am willing to stand corrected.  My source of information is:  http://drinkat18.com/faq.  I have not verified the accuracy of the information on that site.

I started experimenting with alcohol around 17 or so...but honestly never got into it until 21...now i only drink socially or if I had an extremely long day ill have a glass of wine or something.
