Remember the manger scene???  Christmas started then period. God gave us the gift of eternal life and we show that by giving gifts to one another.  Over many, many years, it has become commercialized with alot of peganistic rituals tossed in, (remember, we are in a spiritual war), that's part of Satans stratagy.   About pushing our beliefs and building more churches.. the God of the Bible is the only God who came to die for your sins and resurrected to assure you lived forever with him where there would be no more sin.  No other gods have done that for you.  There dead.  God made Himself simple to understand for people like me so he explained the different uses of H2o.  H2o has many purposes but it's all still the same H2o.  You can freeze it and it becomes ice and has other uses.  You can boil it and make steam and use it in another way but you get the point. God came as Jesus because we needed a savior but He never stopped being God yet took on flesh. His Holy Spirit in the Old Test. lived in an Earthly temple to show you that one day He would dwell and help you, guide you, inside you. That is another "job" of God's.  Enough said
