the starter pokemon should be torchic and you should catch these pokemon ralts evolve it in to gardevoir wingull evolve to teach it secret power and fly it mukuhita to teach it surf,strength,rock smash nincada to teach it cut and catch a wailmer and take out nincada and teach it waterfall and dive.

Try taking Mudkip as your starter and level him/her up to about level15. If you are trying to complete you pokedeck, you should keep 2 teams to level up. One chould be a "travel team" or "HM team" and the other should be a "battle team". The best "battle team" I have found in Ruby/Saphire is Abra(female breed with Meditite male who has Psychic, Fire Punch, Ice Punch, and Thunder Punch) and evolve it into Alakazam as soon as you are able to trade with someone.

2)Mudkip/Swampert:Ice Beam, Earthquake, Muddywater/Surf, Facade.

3)Gastly/Gengar: Sludge Bomb, Shadowball, Psychic, Faint Attack.

4)Aerodactyl: Earthquake, Ancient Power, Aerial Ace, Steel Wing.

5) Charmander/Charizard: Flamethrower, Dragon Claw, Slash, Fly/Aerial Ace.

6)Electabuzz: Thunderbolt, Psychic, Brick Break, Fire Punch.
