Does tanning help dry up a poison ivy rash?

Absolutely not! The sun is not good for any rash and/or scar. It will only make it worse! You need to go see a doctor and/or pharmacist and get a prescription cream for your rash. Good luck.

I used to be severely allergic to poison oak (Same active bio-chemical ingredient.) The most effective "cure" was to go swimming in the ocean. This was far more effective than Cortisone cream or injections. I am sure the American indians were doing the same. After  three or four days of a several minute swim - the minerals and salt in the ocean put it on a fast retreat.

I might also add that in addition to the several minute ocean dip, lying about in the sun while allowing the salty minerals to be absorbed  into the rash also speeds the process. This highly effective cure is really nature's way of counteracting the body's response to urishol.
