Discuss Stevo's answer to: Why is plutonium's atomic symbol Pu?

Why is plutonium's atomic symbol Pu instead of Pl or something else?

Plutonium is named after Pluto (the planet/dwarf planet/plutoid, not the Disney dog) Following the naming of Neptunium (again named after the planet). Ne was already in use so Neptunium was set at Np. Following the same nomenclature Plutonium was given Pu.
