Players, doing so at their own peril.

This question has to do with sports. Football in particular. How can they allow these college and pro players on the field with these long manes of hair tumbling down out of the back of their helmets? It is of their own choice to garnish these coffuers. It is not part of the uniform, therefore it cannot be a holding penalty. Is there a penalty for bringing down a man by the locks of his hair? How could it be unnecessary roughness? If penalties exist for this it is an unfair advantage for the long haired boys. In my day the jocks had short hair! If there is no penality why do players not grab that hair and bring those players down. It cannot be a penalty. What kind of penality would it be? It seems they are just asking for confrontation!

This happened to Troy Polamula a couple of years ago when he intercepted a ball and was running towards the end zone. A tackler from Kansas City grabbed his shoulder but ended up pulling his hair instead. No penalty was called.
