Why would the planet earth produce only ONE species in 5 billion years and in only the most recent geological period, with an awareness of its place in the universe ?

Whales, dolphins, minor birds, chimpanzees, dogs and cats have never invented telescopes and looked to the heavens and wondered where they were located in the universe or questioned why they exist on earth.

Cranky almost tripped over the truth in his response when he mentioned that it was "MIRACULOUS" that any species came about.

You can claim that they never invented anything. That is a uniquely human skill.

But can you really say that they have never "looked up and wondered"? I'm not physic. Are you?

"Miraculous" simply means highly improbable, but not imposable. It can also mean world changing. As in the effect of having a child can have on a person. However. Pregnancy and gestation can hardly be referred  to as "a miracle".

Something happens once. It's a miracle. Something happens a billion times a day. Not so much.
