What does the 8 mean? is it m/s. If there's no friction or resistance whatsoever, only an initial force, in order to create acceleration, will be enough.

Your question is not enough defined.  If 8 [m/sec^2] is the acceleration than the force F is:
F = m * a
F = 10 * 8 = 80 Neutons.
If 8 [m/sec) is the speed than more information is required:  If it's a constant speed than  a = 0   and    F = 0
If 8 [m/sec] is the speed at a certain point, more information has to be given (Initial velocity, time of accelaratin, etc).

It seems likely that it should have been an acceleration of 8 m/sec^2

in which case, (as the last post explains)

The force F is given by

F = m * a

F = 10 * 8 = 80 Newtons.
