Discuss OronD's answer to: Physics

What equation is used to find the total capacitance of capacitors in series?

The entire series acts as a capacitor smaller than any of its components.  The equation is:

\frac{1}{C_\mathrm{eq}} = \frac{1}{C_1} + \frac{1}{C_2} + \cdots + \frac{1}{C_n}

Please note that capacitors are combined in series to achieve a higher working voltage.
