My dog has some flaky skin on her back and sides and keeps rubbing against the furniture to scratch. Should we try bathing her with a moisturizing shampoo or will bathing her dry her skin out more?

I think, finding an accurate answer for this is a good thing, and important. If this were to ever happen to our dog, the first thing I'd do, would call the vet and either speak with her, a tech, or the groomer. The call is free and I know I'd have my answer. When it comes to our 4 legs and paws children I never take chances, no matter how small it may seem.

Your dog might be suffering from a skin problem or an allergy. You should consult a vet to make sure there is nothing wrong before washing him (too much washing is bad for the dog's skin). There are special shampoos for dogs with dry skin or sensitive skin, which you can use if you want to take better care of your dog's skin.

I can say many times it is the food they are eating. Such as Yorkies, they have a allergy reaction to food with corn in it. Once you change to a corn free food the flacky skin begins to leave and soon will not be there. There may be other reasons but this I have found is quite common.

Have a Yorkie Fun day.

I absolutely agree with Yorkie Mom. Its the food! In 35 years of dog ownership I have learned this to be true. Anything you use topically will only give temporary, if any, assistance.

What is the Dog Fanciers Kennel Club and what is the reason for

I'm going to take a stab in the dark and go way way out on a limb. I'm going to guess that the Dog Fanciers Kennel Club is a club for dog fanciers. And I'll step out even further on that limb and guess that the reason for registering with this group is that you are a dog fancier.
