any ideals for the fleas in the carpet and pet i am getting bit up everywhere from them i have tried the pills from the vet only worked for two days help itchy itchy momma lol
You're going to have to get rid of the fleas in the carpet at the same time you get rid of them on the dog.
I suggest you take your dog to be bathed and groomed. While the two of you are out, you may have to resort to flea bombing the place.
If you don't want to use a flea bomb, you can try sprinkling flea powder onto the carpets and allowing it to sit for a while before you vacuum it up. Again, you must also address the fleas on the dog; if you do not, you will keep having reinfestations.
You might look into some of the topical flea treatments which are available. Applied correctly (based on your dog's size and weight) they are generally very effective.
Consistent flea prevention treatment will usually keep this from happening. In the meantime, vacuum regularly!
I have always used the raid flea bobms just remember to have the time to leave your house for a couple hours and the animals to.
Try Diatomaceous earth. It is non toxic to pets but will kill insects like fleas, roaches etc. Sprinkle on carpet and around baseboards
All that is good and right on, but don't forget, you have to kill the eggs that the fleas leave behind. Get a spray called Knockout E.S. by Virbac. Spray where the dogs sleeps and anywhere else that fleas can lay eggs. It will kill the fleas when they emerge from the eggs as well. It takes a while for all the fleas to die but as long as you spray, they will. I use frontline on my dog and he has no fleas as long as I keep up with it. The pills never seemed to work on him. Good Luck.

YIKES! But, don't despair. Use the best of all the suggestions and see what you can do today to stop the itching.
They don't just get in the carpet which is part of why you are getting bit up so much. They get into everything material including clothes. Foggers reach everywhere. (If you have air conditioning, turn it up as high as you can afford to run it for several hours; the things and eggs will die faster in cold air)
You also want to get a liquid preventative called Frontline, after you get your dog a flea bath.
Especially if you live near water, if there is any possibility you or your dog were bit by a mosquito, have both of you tested(the dog for heartworm, if it's not already on a preventative and have your md do blood work for you. I wouldn't put either appointment off for more than a few days, at most.)
You can't make each other sick but a flea problem can weaken your dog to other bites. If, for example, a mosquito bites your dog(or another dog first) then that flea gets in your home bites your dog and that same flea bites you, it will carry the virus from the infected mosiquito and give it to both you and your dog through a bite. Simultaneously, your dog is less able to fight a mosiquito bite because of the flea problem. Since you can get a false negative on a heartworm test, treat a flea bite as a mosquito bite as far as medical/vet tests. (The preventative medication can kill the eggs that cause heartworm(transmitted internally through a bite) if you give it to your dog fast enough. You need to take your dog to a vet that will treat it, not mess around.)
Please don't get scared because if that happened, it is so close to when you posted that you can identify without getting sick - While your dog is getting groomed and your place is fogged and you are out, make an appointment with your md and check for anything that could have been passed into your system before you have any symptoms other than itching. (Frontline will protect your dog and you from any future bites and you can start that today, while you're making arrangements for your other appointments) You can also get a flea and tick shampoo at the same time and while it is light out, bathe your dog outside, apply the Frontline and pick up a t-shirt/shorts to change into outside and stay in a motel/hotel that allows pets until you get the fleas out of your house. Both you and your dog will get some immediate relief and protection that way along with the long-term prevention suggestions.
If you have a car, you have to spray/fog your vehicle, also or you'll bring them right back into your house.(also run the a/c, if you have it, for the first 20-30 minutes after spraying and follow the directions - I don't know if you have to rinse it off inside of a car before your dog can safely go back in)
This question is making me feel itchy!
You will have to use one of the flea fogger items that can be purchased by your vet. And if you don't have the pets shampooed, the fleas will come right back.
Borax Mule 20 laundry soap sprinkled on your carpet and left as long as possible (no humans or pets walking over it, mostly pets ... we humans can handle a little bit of it on our feet) will kill not only the fleas, but any hatching and non-hatched eggs. It kills them by drying them out much like putting salt onto a slug.
Then a good vacuuming of all furniture and carpets along with (I prefer) Frontline on your pets will go along way in quickly cleaning up them lil buggers. Depending on how bad the fleas are, you may have to spend the day doing laundry also. Woohoo, what do you know? Borax is a laundry detergent, so you should be set.
Other than the monthly application of Frontline (about $15.00 to $20.00) I try to not ever use foggers, sprays, etc. With a fogger you have all the extra chores of putting all your house plants outside, wiping off ALL flat surfaces of your home, and most people don't even think to move their toothbrush out of the chemicals way.
Any GOOD vet can tell you many ways that are non-chemical to kill fleas. If yours doesn't, try a local pet food store. I'd personally rather pay an extra few dollars to an honest pet food store than to a vet who tells you sprays and bombs are the only way to go.
Good Luck! I'm an owner of three cats (ages 5, 17 & 18) and one dog (age 4) ... and not a flea in sight for years. : )
Borax works very well..just sprinkle it all over the carpet..You can also hire a pest exterminator to spray the whole house inside and out!
