hi, the painting you have used to belong to me and I sold it to an older lady in Montclair, Ca. in the 1980's. I had it painted by peter shinn, The reason noboby can find any info on peter is because he was a portrait painter that worked out of a Mall type location. He would take a photograph of the customer and doan oil painting of them almost on the spot. I also owned the other painting of the "clown with the Maltese dog" that the other person was inquiring about. They were both painted at my request and are originals. I have photographs of both. hope this helps. you can contact me at:

I also have a Beautiful painting by Peter Shinn. Also a clown. FYI I saw a painting by him on e-bay selling for 500.00

Generally between $3000.00 and 6,000.00 (Clowns are rare, and usually feature Emmett Kelly, the famous King of Clowns). I suspect based in your information, no image, around $3,500.00

Ebay is not the definitive answer to properly appraising collectors artwork. Most owners need professional advice and a fair market appraisal. I would suggest reliable well known auction house, even if you have to pay a commission, your more likely to be ahead in dollars verses selling on Ebay.
