How often should I feed my 5 month old puppy?  My partner thinks twice a day I thought more often and small amounts.

3 times light food will be enough for your puppy... morning, afternoon, evening very light food, and night....

Your partner is right. Twice a day is sufficent. If you feed your puppy to often housebreaking can become a major problem. Feed them in the morning and again in the evening and then take away all food after after 8pm. You will fare much better on this schedule. When the dog gets older and has complete control of their bowel and bladder, then you can leave food out all night if need be and water as well. Before that time puppies will eat as much as is offered them, and they will have to potty as often. And it makes it very hard to housebreak them if they are eating constantly.
