It is an additive in dog food that is supposed to aid digestion. Although it is not supposed to do any harm it is not there for nutritional value. A good website to evaluate your dog food is dogfoodanalysis.com where dog food brands are rated to help you decide what the best food for your dog is.

I did look at dogfoodanalysis first but they only had one review and it was 2007 and no mention of the animal plasma. Thanks, Lee

thank you very much guys for these great suggestions

Animal Plasma is a by-product of the meat packing industry and is manufactured from blood that is collected from comercial slaughterhouse facilities. The fact that they don't specify the animal means that the blood could litterally be coming from road kill or euthanized dogs and cats from the shelters. How its being sold as something benifical for your animal I will never know. There are better ways to give them what they need.
