Why do people fear success? What causes people to fear success?
Success can defined in more than one way you know. I like to point out that one may be successful and not climb to the top of the corporate ladder. Some choose to get married, raise a family, work in a factory or family business, and live a comfortable life. Are they not successful? I suspect you might be thinking more of success in the big climb the ladder way. The first answer is right on in this case. Success brings responsibility, so some people come close to success and then don't quite allow themselves to make it so they escape the responsibility that success would bring to them. They thus live in fear and unsuccess. Some people cannot deal with criticism; they would be great leaders and very successful ones, but they know that leaders get criticized. They would rather not go to the top and avoid that criticism. Fear rules again. Some don't want the kind of life style that would be requited of one in a high social position and the entertainment required. So there are many things that may keep one from wanting one to be successful--but there is no good enough reason to stop the ones who really want the power and prestige that comes with such a position.
