Should people be able to pick and choose individual cable and channels to subscribe to?

The way cable, satellite, and other TV providers work is that people subscribe to packages. Some conservative groups feel that consumers should be pick individual channels because they may not want to pay for channels they don't want their children to see even if they can block them; they use the analogy that if you go to a theater you aren't forced to pay for every movie their showing. Another reason for choice is "Why pay for 1000 channels when you only watch 10-15 of them?"
