Why do we like penguins?

Why? I like them but I can't explain why they appeal to me (and so many other people). If you can explain your love for penguins, please answer!

they taste great fried and with red sauce

We like cartoon penguins that have happy feet.  We kind of admire Emperor penguins for marching in the cold.  We don't like penguins at the aquarium because they stink.
