NO, NO, NO.  YOU MUST have the correct fittings.  If you do not use the correct fittings it will blow abart.

i repeat. NO NO NO!!!  First of all it's called PEX piping. They do make a push connect fitting that can be used with PEX piping, but if it is incorrectly installed it can blow apart (big mess!!!). Generally speaking, working with PEX requires special tools and specific fittings and, umm, knowledge and experiance. Also PEX comes in White, Red, and Blue. If the pipe is Grey, it is PB (polybutelene) which does not use the same materials as PEX. Be careful and good luck

Plumber

Agreed, special fittings and tools. Having it done right is cheaper than water damage.

It' not pecs it's Pex and no the application is differnt call a plumber

PEX is a whole plumbing system that comes with it's own PEX pipe and fittings. Pex is in 1/2, 3/4 and 1 inch at least. The pipe is cut with a secatur and crimped on. Now  Swingline crimpers are available, much cheaper than PEX crimpers, and use a slightly different but compatible ring.

What is truth -

In many areas this work falls under a licensing board. Adding to or modifying the water distribution system may be one work not allowed by unlicesened professionals  in your municipality. The possibility of a water leak or violating a code would be more of an issue that making this a DIY project-and the liability is on you with a leak. The chance of a leak on a 1/2" water line with 55 pounds of pressure behind it should be enough to convince you to use a professional, seeing as how in a matter seconds; carpet, hardwood floor, sheetrock, painting, and mold issues will come with that leak. I hope you at least consider this advice.
