Turnips and rutabegas are very similar to parsnips. If you are making a dish which calls for parsnips and you have none, you should be able to successfully substitute the same amount of turnip or rutabega. Doing so may alter the finished dish slightly, but the difference should be minor and generally not noticeable.

carrot OR salsify OR turnip OR celeriac OR parsley root OR sweet potato are suitable substitutes

Parsips are just very poweful tasting CARROTS!  So, you can use alot of carrots, turnips or rutabagas to replace parsips everyday!!
