Why Is Paris Hilton Famous?

Why is Paris Hilton famous? What exactly did she do to be famous? She can't act, she can't sing...why do people pay attention to her? Why is she so damn fascinating? I don't get it.

She may not be the smartest or most talented person ... but she knows how to work the media.

She started as a model, and the combination of heiress and model attracted attention. She's made sure that she's never far from the media spotlight: magazines, movies, TV shows, TV news, parties and clubs (good for gossip), books, Internet videos (whether infamous or humorous) .... The media knows that a Paris Hilton story is good for ratings ... and she's willing to oblige by providing stories on a regular basis.

As they say, she's famous for being famous.

I agree with darling's assessment that Paris knows how to work the media. She is, in a way, very real -- more real than any other celebrity out there. The fact that is already rich in her own way only emboldens her to do things other people can't begin to fathom. she is not afraid to do things her way and is more than happy to share her life with people.

Other celebrities shy away from the spotlight but paris is the exact opposite. Yes, she is famous because she is famous. darling is right about that.

I know that she's a media darling but I mean really, she's not pretty she WAY too skinny, she LOOKS like she smells bad...I don't understand why people think she's entertaining...she was just famous for being born and being a bitch, what kind of standard are we setting for our children?

I think a lot of what we see of Paris is just a show and she is far more intelligent than she lets on. I think she is very attractive and a lot of girls see her as a fashion role model.

I kind of agree with CelebGoss. I mean, lots of what we see on reality tv and stuff like that is SO a show. She loves the media, and the media loves her. A perfect fit. She doesn't let us see the intelligent side of her because that's "boring." She certainly is a fashion role model for a lot of girls. I think she's pretty, no matter what people say. And of course having the media follow you EVERYwhere reveals soem things that aren't great about her. If the media attacked you 24/7 like that you'd have some people not like you either. We all have flaws. Can we blame her for the media pointing that out? She's beautiful, and just like the previous comments, "She's famous because she's famous." She's fun to watch.
