Some people have some outrageous weddings. Have you ever gone to a themed wedding? What did you think about the wedding? Would you have a themed wedding?
Hi, I see that you have a couple of questions so i will only answer on this one but will mention the other two items. First about theme weddings...I have been to one, the couple got married on Halloween and had goregous masks for every one it was so beautiful and tasteful but a huge expense so i would do this only if YOU can afford it. Cameras at the weddings: its done all the time but you must be clear that you would like to have them used and returned to you at the end of your reception as you are responsible for getting them developed. Another expense. Gifts: No you don't have to register something you don't need nor can you request money only. That would be so tacky . My thought for you is get a minister to marry you in someplace lovely; take great pictures and use the money you would have spent on the big wedding for a downpayment on a house. If you are living together, not getting married for years and have everything you need, you might ask why you are doing this? The loveliest wedding I have ever performed was four people in front of a fire place. Even I cried. Good luck with your plans.
I went to a horror themed wedding once. Mostly zombies. It was a blast. But then, all the guests were horror fans, so our little crowd had that in common. I, myself don't have a need for a themed wedding. If i ever get married again, I'll get married on the beach, with everyone in casual clothes. I don't believe in suits and all that jazz. Though I suppose that could be considered a theme in itself.
Hi, I wouldn't necessary say that there are outrageous theme weddings, but more of unique theme weddings. I know of a Nightmare Before Christmas theme wedding that I am helping on making right now, that is a full on production play in the beginning of the reception. They booked the venue at the Fox Event Center in downtown Redlands, California. Which is actually a very elegant theatre setting so it really fits the theme. We were really fortunate that a location like that is able to work with us on how we want the wedding to be done. They even have special effects, like we are using a low fog machine, spot lights, simulating snow, and just all around sound/lighting effects. Not only that this wedding is all customized, the Fox Event Center has a personal space ad in the front of their theatre and they were able to create a beautiful poster to go with the theme that included a replica of Tim Burton's handwriting style, bordering the poster shows the snake that eats up the toys, it's really crazy and it's something you'd have to see for yourself. I've actually made hand drawn envelopes with the theme on it, the countdown clock in the main lobby that says "Days Before Wedding" much like the "Day Before Xmas". Anyways, it's a real task but it's going to be an amazing wedding, themed and elegant, and the Fox Event Center real helps us out. I also know of a Sherlock Holmes theme wedding, so yes, I know some very unique weddings. Would I have one myself? Yes, I probably would...but it's so hard to choose a specific theme hahaha, at least for me that is. Themes in wedding helps give an idea of what you'd want the wedding and reception to be like, to me, it's like a guideline.
Hi, I think you should have something you can look back on in later years and not be totally embarrassed by. So if you have a theme, why not something chic, sophisticated and tasteful, like Art Deco. The glamour and fun of the flappers in the 1920s, gorgeous cocktails, jazz and lots of fun. Check out my ideas for a great Art Deco Wedding at http://www.decolish.com/ArtDecoWedding.html
Have a great one whatever you choose!
