Discuss Ol' Yeddar's answer to: Origin of samaritans in the old testament

The Samaritans were the descendents of the Northern Kingdom. Following Solomon's death, the Northern and Southern Kingdoms split. Jeroboam led the Northern Kingdom after that. It was downhill into apostasy and conquest by foreigners. Those of the 10 tribes that constituted the NK intermarried with non-Hebrews. Hence, those of the Southern Kingdom looked upon then as half-breed, certainly barely good enuf to be held in contempt.

The story of the Good Samaritan takes on much more meaning when seen in this light.

Keep close to Nature's heart... climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean.* Victims of circumstance owe it to fate. Victims of choice owe it to themselves.*One of the widest gaps in human experience is the gap between what we say we want to be and our willingness to discipline ourselves to get there.
