Societies through history have challenged the behaviour and attitudes of people. Like an organism, Societies have placed different expectations on the human condition at different times to suit different needs. Different aspects of our human identity are needed to shine or are needed to be repressed. Also within a society, depending on what role you undertake (usually naturaly), expectations on your identity are also different than those of another. Those who say "society sucks" or have a pesimistic view haven't found an institution or organization in which they can express and expand to adequetly fulfill their needs. Or so I think.
